ASA Updates 2003 Schedule
28 JAN 03

Officials from the American Speed Association have announced a change in the 2003 ASA Racing Series schedule. The revised schedule now has 17 events at 17 different tracks instead of the preliminary schedule of 20 events.

Races scheduled for Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL on March 29, Memphis Motorsports Park on May 4 and Southern National Speedway in Kenly, NC on May 31 have been removed from the tour. In addition, the season finale at Nashville will be held on Sunday, October 19 instead of the original date of October 12.

ASA officials cited conflicts with television schedules as among the reasons for the changes. The have also emphasized that the ASA Racing Series driver's points fund will remain the same despite the three fewer events.

SPEED Channel will carry the entire 2003 schedule with 16 events set for live coverage and the Sunday, August 24 race at Lake Erie Speedway to be telecast on a same-day three-hour tape-delay basis.

The 2003 season kicks off at USA International Speedway on March 22, 2003 in Lakeland, FL. Race Time is 9:00PM. Click here to view the full 2003 ASA Schedule
