ATI PERFORMANCE RACING PREPARES FOR 2002 WITH HIGH
EXPECTATIONS At the race shop here in Baltimore there have been a few changes or shall we say expansions with ATI Performance Racing. The race shop has been under construction in the off-season to increase floor space to make room for two new cars being built for the 2002 season. The two new Hamke chassis cars will showcase the new 2002 ATI Performance Racing paint scheme. When multitalented crewmember Dave Miller finishes construction, the new race shop will be home to four ATI Performance Racing ASA cars. After finishing 20th in points for the 2001 ASA season J.C. continues to improve and plans to leave his mark on the ASA in 2002. A top ten finish in points for the 2002 season is at the top of Beatties to do list for 2002. We are excited for 2002, said J.C. We have been working hard all winter at the shop preparing the cars. Qualifying and consistency will play a major role in 2002 for ATI Performance Racing. If I have consistent finishes and keep the car out of trouble there is no reason why we cannot have a top ten finish in points, commented Beattie. J.C. is also looking forward to the season opener in Lakeland, FL at USA International Speedway on March 24, 2002. He has had a lot of success at Lakeland and feels very comfortable on the track. A solid finish at Lakeland will boost the teams confidence level and set the tone for the season. On January 23, 2002 ASA officials announced a change to the 2002 ASA Racing Series schedule of events. Illiana Motor Speedway, located in Schererville, IN., will replace US 131 Motorsports Park on the weekend of September 21 and 22, the 18th of 20 events on the 2002 ASA Racing Series schedule. Construction engineers at US 131 Motorsports Park (Martin, MI) found an unstable layer of earth during excavation, making it more costly and risky to continue with the oval track process at this time. In addition to current economic conditions, track officials decided to delay the construction until a suitable option can be found to complete the project. That disclosure by track officials to the ASA offices required ASA Racing Series officials to activate a contingency plan already in place, formalizing and finalizing a deal with the half-mile Illiana Motor Speedway. As the 2002 ASA season approaches be sure to catch all the latest news
and updates on J.C. Beattie Jr. and ATI Performance Racing at www.jcbeattie.com. |
