Concord, NC - J.C. Beattie Jr. and the ATI Performance Racing Team traveled to Concord, North Carolina for the BFGoodrich 250. J.C. would take 16th after a hard-fought weekend filled with a bizarre combination of rain and wreckage. The ATI team was sponsored Matts Chicago Hot Dogs. Owner and former ASA driver, Matt Sielsky, provided all the food for the team and kept everyone well fed throughout the weekend. Heavy rains shortened the scheduled practice sessions, and completely washed out all hopes of standard qualifying for the main event. We got about 20 minutes of practice in before ASA officials called it off, said J.C. As a result, the drivers would line up according to their standings in the championship, putting the Baltimore native on the 7th starting row with a great shot for a victory! Fortunately, the car handled great, considering the lack of practice time, and J.C. managed to charge steadily through the 33-car field. However, a top-10 finish was not to be, as J.C. had to stop at one point to avoid an accident and lost over 10 spots. This would hurt later in the race as Beattie comments. "We lost a lap around lap 200 and ended up 16th, one lap down," Beattie commented, "Luckily no damage was done to the car and we can take it to Lanier this weekend." Congratulations goes to rookie, and fellow Howe Racing driver, Davin Scites, who would take the lead and his maiden ASA victory at Concord. ATI Performance Racing will head to the Lanier National Speedway in Georgia for the fourth event of the 2003 ASA Racing Series. The Georgia 250 will take the green flag at 9:00 PM EST on April 26th and will telecast live on SPEED Channel. |
